A Kentucky, local registered agent is required when registering to do business in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
All corporations, nonprofits, LLC, LP, LLP, must have a registered agent.
What is a KRA?
A Kentucky Registered Agent ("KRA") can be either an organization or an individual you list on your corporate paperwork with the Commonwealth. The KRA is responsible for receiving annual report notices and legal notices on your behalf and forwarding them to you. The KRA must have a physical location in Kentucky and be present at that address during regular business hours.
Usually, a sheriff’s deputy or process server will deliver a lawsuit to the KRA's address. It is also common for court papers to be delivered by certified mail to the KRA at the registered office address. That will be legal proof that you have been served, whether or not your KRA delivers the legal notice to you.
The KRA’s task is to be available at the address listed as the Kentucky Registered Agent's office address during regular business hours. All legal documents and documents from the Commonwealth will be sent to the KRA’s address.
